Further proof that the 15-year-old male is the nexus of contemporary popular entertainment, this anthology of music from and “inspired by” the sequel to the earth-conquering Halo saga also showcases how capably the video game industry can trump even Hollywood’s vaunted production values. The original synth-heavy underscore by Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori is filled with enough brooding, mock-Goth atmospherics, and pulsing exotica of indeterminate ethnicity to give t… More >>

Hey, I really just came in to slam these people who are trying to downsize the quaility of the rock music.
Stop, just shut up for your own benefit. First off, let me be the first to say on this site : HOOBASTANK IS NOT Nu-Metal. Now, we can all agree nu-metal is crappy, but come on… hoobastank? it’s not even that bad guys. Secondly, breaking benjamin? yeah, really nu-metal I’m sure. Especially with So Cold and other plainly alternative rock songs that couldn’t pass for these supposed hard bands. (Gotta love Finger Eleven’s “Worst Nu-Metal band ever” shirt. Not even they knew they were nu-metal, hahahaha)
Anyway, to compliment the rest of it. Overall, very nice soundtrack, I personally like it, the rock songs aren’t too bad(though once again, I’ll agree hoobastank has been a might(that’s an understatement btw) shoddy on songs, but hey, I have not made it, nor have I been corrupted by MTV for fame.

I got this because I like the music in the game, but some of the stuff on the soundtrack really disappointed me. At times I thought I was listening to Riverdance or Enigma. At other times it reminded me of Santana or even Miles Davis. I expected to get a CD that would put me in the Halo mood – agressive, powerful, ready to rock. What I got is so ecclectic I wasn’t even interested in playing the game after listening to it. Maybe you’ll like it, but I’d return it if I could.

THe only reason I am writing anything about this album is because it contains the Odyssey by Incubus, and its probably some of their best work and will go down as their most unnoticed. While the rest of your nerds are huggin your pillows at night thinking about your video games and the “gnarly instrumentals” on this album you sit there and bash Incubus’ work. The first track by them, Follow, is not all that great however it was re-released on an additional cd with their Alive at Red Rocks DVD and it sounds sooooooo much better on that cd (with some real lyrics) But after listening to the Odyssey I was really hoping this to be a new direction for Incubus, a more proggressive/conceptual sound. Whether this is the direction they go on with their new album is yet to be heard. Its a shame that this work will go unnoticed, and the only reason it will be that way because a bunch of losers decide to try and impress people with (what they think) is a sense of music just because its of a classical nature. Yes, the rest of the music on the album is amazing, and I give big ups to its composition, but come on people, show some love to good music when its presented to your faces.

Ok for starters you other reviewers who dissed Breaking Benjamin and Hoobastank are obviously the hip hop, r’n'b lovin suckers. This is just decent music by talented MUSICIANS! You note that i put musicians in capitals because BB and Hoobastank play there own instruments wheres these hip hop losers just spurt out some words that rhyme and think they are musicians!
Anyways on to the album. The remix of the halo theme, i thought, was awsome! Nice to here some Rock in there! Got even better when Breaking Benjamin hit and gotta say when that tune started playin in the game got me really pumped up to kick some alien [...]! Incubus’s tunes varied in my opinion! There first Follow was great but then after that just kinda went downhill! As for some of the instrumental tunes. Well i suppose you either like it or you dont. I didnt. I just feel that they were more or less the same as the first album.
Anyway it was good to see some Rock brought into the new halo album and hopefully they’ll do an inspired by album which will just be entirely devoted to it!

Usually genious by Marty the Elder.
The tracks by Incubus are total (…)
The track by Breaking Benjamin isn’t too bad, but the vocals suck.
The opening theme has a cheesy guitar riff inserted that ruins it.
Other than that my only complaint is the good tracks are too short.
Tracks by Marty get 6 stars.
All others get zero!
